Hmong Connect is a free community platform dedicated to the Hmong community. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it for our various services: classifieds, events, dating, AI assistant, and more.

During registration:

• First and last name
• Email address
• Authentication tokens (managed securely)

During general use:

• City (required)
• Published classifieds and their photos
• Messages exchanged with other members
• Events created and participations

Dating Service:

• Profile photos (moderated before publication)
• Profile information: age, gender, clan, height, profession, education
• Search preferences: age, distance, preferred gender
• Interactions: likes, passes, matches
• Conversations with your matches

AI Assistant:

• Questions asked to the assistant
• AI conversation history

AI conversations may be used to improve the service. No personally identifiable data is shared with third parties.

Technical data:

• IP address
• Browser type and device
• Date and time of connection
• Geolocation data (if authorized, for nearby shops)

4. Use of Data

Your data is used to:

• Manage your account: registration, login, email verification
• Display your classifieds: publication and management of your offers
• Enable messaging: exchanges between members
• Dating Service: suggest compatible profiles based on your preferences
• AI Assistant: answer your questions about Hmong culture
• Security: prevention of abuse and protection of the platform
• Moderation: verification of photos and content before publication
• Communication: important notifications about your account

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising purposes.

5. Data Sharing

Some information is visible to other members:

• Your first name (or nickname for dating)
• Your public classifieds
• Your city/region
• Reviews left on your profile
• Your Dating profile (visible only to other users of the service)

Your email is never shared with other users.

Your Dating conversations are only visible to your matches.

We may transmit your data to competent authorities upon judicial request.

6. Data Retention

• Account data: retained as long as your account is active
• Classifieds: deleted with your account or upon your request
• Messages and Dating conversations: retained 3 years after last activity
• Dating photos: deleted when Dating profile is deleted
• AI conversations: retained 1 year for service improvement
• Connection logs: 1 year maximum

After deletion of your account, your data is erased within 30 days.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

In accordance with GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Rectify inaccurate information
• Delete your account and your data
• Export your data (portability)
• Object to certain processing
• Delete your Dating profile independently from your account

8. Security

We protect your data with:

• HTTPS encryption for all communications
• Passwordless authentication via secure email codes (OTP)
• Restricted access to personal data
• Regular backups
• Photo moderation before publication (Dating, profiles)
• Ability to block and report users

9. Cookies

We only use essential cookies to:

• Maintain your login session
• Remember your language preferences
• Store your cookie consent

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
